Kannawidan Ylocos Festival

Image
Kannawidan is an Ilocano word that means "festivity of rich heritage and culture." It commemorates the 198th anniversary of the formation of Ilocos Sur, which was separated from Ilocos Norte by a Royal Decree on February 2, 1818. The 2016 Kannawidan Ylocos festival in Ilocos Sur officially began. The festival celebrates the province's heritage culture, which dates back two centuries. The Bicentennial Ylocos Festival begins with the traditional opening ritual led by Governor Ryan Singson and Ilocos Sur's indigenous people. The festival honors the rich heritage, tradition, culture, arts, crafts, and delicacies of Ilocos Sur. In the annual Kannawidan Festival, locals revived traditional practices passed down by Ilocano elders, but made it more meaningful this 2022 due to the province's Bicentennial Kannawidan Ylocos festival. The traditional opening displays the identity, demonstrating that there is a culture that has developed over time and that we will continue ou...

Ways how Bigueños celebrate Christmas Season during Pandemic in the Heritage City of Vigan.

Image
This is most likely one of the few times in modern history when we are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas season in its essence, in its simplicity. With a focus on the Covid virus, we are preoccupied with guidelines for how to celebrate Christmas this year– with only members of the family living in the same household, to continue wearing masks, to practice social distancing, or to wash hands frequently. For our mutual protection and safety, we are discouraged from visiting one another. The usual Christmas joy and merriment that we have come to expect is not possible this year But Covid should not dampen our Christmas celebrations! This Season, let us spread more hope, peace, joy, and love! And it is at this point that I am reminded of the birth of our Savior. The Christmas story is straightforward. Our Lord and Savior was born in a manger to a mother and a father. His visitors included a shepherd, a few animals, and the three magi. It's a heartfelt reminder of the true meaning ...

PANDEMIC IN CHRISTMAS How can one celebrate Christmas this year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic? This is most certainly one of the few instances in contemporary history when we are encouraged to celebrate Christmas in its purest, most simple form. Due of the spotlight on the Covid virus, we are obsessed with regulations on how to spend Christmas this year– with only members of the family who live in the same household, to continue wearing masks, to follow social isolation, or to wash hands regularly. We are not allowed to see each other for our mutual protection and safety. We won't be able to enjoy the usual Christmas joy and mirth that we have come to expect this year. Covid, on the other hand, should not be allowed to detract from our Christmas festivities! Let us share even more hope, peace, joy, and love this season! And it is here that I am reminded of the birth of our Savior. The Christmas narrative is plain. When our Lord and Savior was born in a manger, only ...

WAYS TO PROTECT ENVIRONMENT

Image
Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space. Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community. You can get involved in protecting your watershed, too. Educate. When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources. Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean. Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag. Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room! Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change. Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.

INSIGHT TOWARDS A MORE RESILIENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

INSIGHT TOWARDS A MORE RESILIENT OF THE PHILIPPINES The word "resilience" or "katatagan" denotes the "image of the Filipino people" in times of misfortune. Traditional and social media frequently portray us as a group of individuals smiling in the face of adversity. It promotes a national image of a powerful nation—one that responds fast with a joke and a grin as a weapon. Seeing this somehow boosts the mood and gives optimism that life is returning to normalcy or will return to normalcy soon.   However, its "resilience" has been a source of contention. People often dismiss adversity as something we must deal with on a daily basis. Because we are "resilient," we frequently dismiss hazards in the face of another incident and would perform the same thing "again and over." If you complain about the difficulties, others will frequently perceive you as negative and pessimistic, which will not assist to elevate the spirit an...

QUALITY EDUCATION DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

QUALITY EDUCATION DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC Education teaches us about our society and environment, as well as how to change them for the better. Education also assists us in developing our own perspective on our lives, preparing us to have our own points of view and form our own opinions on various aspects of life. Today's education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge. Nowadays, anyone with a computer and an internet connection may have access to vast amounts of data and information via various websites and e-commerce platforms. But, without education, can information be translated into knowledge? Only education can teach us how to perceive various challenges and occurrences in our life. We can learn not just from our textbooks, but also from our instructors, gurus, and mentors who teach us how to read such texts and distinguish the Vishalyakarani from the Gandhamadan mountains. We learn from our own lives as well, via practical experiences and hands-on instruct...
